black parade

just noticed i've been wearing a lot of black lately...very reminiscent of my primary and early high school years, when all i literally wore was black, noir, and umm...negro. can't really think of a good reason as to what has brought this on, except for the fact that i've been listening to a lot of nineties music (rediscovering my love for dave matthews, the goo goo dolls, and hole) and watching my so-called life from start to finish.
this dress is amazingly perfect for my black mood, literally doesnt need much to dress it up, and it combines two of my current favourite things: simple sleeveless shirts and dipped hems. i was actually going to say maxi skirts, but ket's face it, everything looks kind of maxi on me.
:)

also, on a completely random note, i kind of love how this hat makes all my outfits look amish.

yesterday was rough, today was nice, tomorrow will be amazinggg.
hope you're all having a productive week! i am so hanging for the long weekend!

these pictures remind me of twirling in my grandma's garden when i was little.

found the dress buried in elaine's box of last year's dresses. it's amazing the stuff you find when you are ransacking someone else's wardrobe. this discovery came just in time, as i have been trawling through online shops looking for the perfect lacey/crochet dress for winter. the colour is exactly what i didnt know i wanted, the oversized-ness of it all is perfecto, and i'm even loving the longer length, which is very unlike me, but something i have noticed i have been drawn to more and more. i love them with the shoes, and if it were raining today instead of tonight, i would have loved to find a big fat mud puddle and jumped right in the middle of it. because, you know, a mudspattered hem would have been totally cute. :D

...and tomorrow is monday again.
hope the week goes by quickly for you, just dont forget to stop and smell the roses :)

all the colours not on that wall

Photobucket
(Toi Et Moi tshirt dress, 2 Baia Vista boots)

i wore this earthy-coloured number to lunch with the boyfriend and his best friend the other day. i'm not usually into very brown tones, but i got this for free from my work and seeing as it was cloudy as hell, i thought this baby would fit the mood perfectly. it's actually very comfortable, one of those throw it on and walk out pieces that i seem to love so much. that, and the oversized style let me eat a whole pasta gamberi AND wedges with aioli AND thirds of a bowl of chilli mussles without having to worry about anything popping out put straight up in my favourite pig out outfits list.
it's winter, friends. everyone knows food tastes so much better in winter. definitely going to be needing a lot more dresses like this one!

and on that note, i'm off to lunch!
hope everyone is eating, drinking, and being merry! :)

on one of our cloudiest days (in a while anyway), on a giant ashtray in the middle of the street, and this dress still looks pretty enough to eat. ..or frolic around in for two whole weeks straight. Going through somewhat of a blush moment, and this little number has definitely been getting a lot of wear-time. My favourite bits of it are the things you can't see...like the huggie-softness of the fabric, the tails at the back (which i really should have taken a photo of), and how it always seems like the perfect thing to wear when i'm feeling indecisive in the morning.

After what seems like forever, I finally decided to put myself out of my misery and acquire me some Litas. I knew they were going to be good, but based on past experience, very few things are usually worth all their hype. These ones though...hate to say it in fear of sounding like all the others, but daaamn. they are honestly the HOLY GRAIL OF SHOES. so comfortable, i can't even describe. i have had these for a good two months and it pains me to wear anything else. my hooves actually feel funny in anything other than these babies. i am both trying to consciously not wear them out (literally to their death) as i want them to last as long as shoe-manly possible, whilst battling the urge to buy another (two or three...you know how it is).
also planning a holiday with the boyfriend at the end of the year, so please please powers that be, give me the restraint!

Definitely getting colder in this side of the island, so I'm milking all these last drops of shorts-wearing weather that i can get! i know i always whinge about how tired i am of the denim shorts + top combo, but have to admit, it's pretty freaking comfortable!

can't believe it's monday again tomorrow...work hard for that dollar people, and then buy yourself something pretty at the end of the week! :)

...and the wait for winter continues. it honestly feels like we will never get anything colder than an 18 degree day here in Perth, and it's giving me a serious case of the sad face. most of my winter orders have pretty much come in, and all my knits are looking exceptionally neglected each and every morning i reach for my denim shorts and a light thing or another. i am however, trying to see the positives, and enjoying my sunny walks to and from the train station, and basking in the fact that all my suede shoes are rain-free.
also, i get to wear these silk shorts for another day. they are the most non-descript pair everrr, and because of this, they work with everything. i'm not even kidding, the fact that they are so plain (but oh so comfortable) provide the perfect backdrop for pretty much any outfit. i've worn them for a whole week straight and no one has even noticed.

did a massive wardrobe clean out the other day, which led to the unearthing of several forgotten pieces of clothing...this thrifted cordy vest being one of them. oh corduroy, so wonderfully nineties, like mixtapes, and Alanis Morisette, and Cher Horowitz, and The Craft. i don't even think i fully appreciated it at the time, but that was such a wicked decade. everything was a million times easier, life was carefree, and the music was amazinggg.
i am such a nineties kid at heart.
