sheer story

i was nearly not allowed to leave the house in this ensemble. the boyfriend seems to have a problem with any form of underwear exposure, which you know, i guess is fair enough seeing as he is a guy and 1) knows what other guys are thinking, and 2) doesnt really see "fashion" as opposed to "chick showing off her underwear. " still though, at least i know he cares :)

i know heaps of women out there are underwear women. they like buying new underwear, and invest a lot of money in them as well. they get into the lace and bows and sheer and cute colors, and the mixing and matching and just pretty-ness of it all. and moi? well, lets just say underwear isnt something i really spend money on. i buy if i need, but since i rarely wear bras ( i live in western australia and it gets craaazy hot here in summer) other than when its cold and i need to rug up, i dont really see the point, especially when there are a myriad of other delightful items i would rather spend my hard earned money on. although, for outfits such as these, i kind of wish i had something cuter. ive been hearing the call of the lingerie section lately, and methinks i might just answer that call this weekend, see if anything strikes my fancy and screams "you have to have meee!!" the boyfriend will be happy as he has asked me many times why i dont invest in expensive girly lingerie, and my mother would be so proud. i can still hear her now,
"omg maxie, put on a bra, you look like a floozy!"
oh mom.

these shorts are bananas, and i mean that in the bestest way possible. i'm going through a velvet phase at the moment and my heart did little cartwheels when i found this baby. the boyfriend looked confused at my ecstatic-ness and joy,
"i've never actually seen anyone wearing velvet shorts, babe."
oh baby, thats not such a bad thing.

say hello to ze leopard skirt, one of my favorite opshop buys. its a little big so i have to fold out the top to make it fit properly until i can master the art of sewing and altering clothes myself. thank god for big tshirts to hide the bulkiness a double fold can cause.

celebrity slim shakes...to do or not to do, that is the question ... .....

my favorite denim shirt ever, its an old Marks and Spencer i scored from Good Sammys for $3. i remember Marks and Spencer back home, 'twas very popular among my school friends when we were about 13 and a lifetime ago. for the record, i never really saw the appeal, i thought it was too much of a mommy store, too pretty and polished. i hated the shoes. they had really good potato chips though, for me that was the draw. =)

tomorrow is the weekend and for the first time in ages, i have no plans. nothing that needs to get done in the city. AND the boyfriend is at work the whole day. so tomorrow, i am sleeping in, staying in pajamas the whole day, catching up on some old 90210 goodness, and IF i feel like it, i will work on my boards. mother nature, i would appreciate it if you made tomorrow a wet rainy one, that would just be icing on the cake. because really, how much better is sleeping in when you can hear the rain pouring outside?

* so i was unpacking last year's summer shoes from their boxes and i dug these babies up. i dont really know how i feel about them, ive been wanting to give them away/sell them for the past three seasons but when push comes to shove i can't really bear to part with them on account of the fact that they are soooo comfortable and the perfect shoes to wear when you need a few inches for a long maxi dress or
too long wide leg jeans...or y'know, anything that covers your shoes basically.
* ive been wearing this top to death and im sure youre sick of it but it's just so comfy and easy and perfect for days when i cant be bothered thinking.
* i bought these skinnies for $20 for distressing, but then got attatched to the fact that they are the perfect length with zips down the bottom. ive been wanting skinnies with zips at the ankles but everything is just tooooo long. however i have put distressing them off for long enough and today was kind of a final chance to wear them before i put holes and attack them with the sandpaper.
*say hello to Lucy / Cat. her name is Lucy but we called her Cat for the first three weeks until we could think of an appropriate name and it kind of stuck. still though, im trying to get used to Lucy.

the top and shoes are new additions to my wardrobe and are current happy thoughts. something about the top's gold and black checkered-ness make me feel like a glamorous jester, and i mean that in a good way. and the shoes...well, i don't really have to explain, do i? :)

was such a good good day today. slept in till 11.30, had mexican for late lunch which included the most amazing stuffed jalapenos (among other yummy things), and took a long walk with the boyfriend. it's funny how when you love the items you're wearing it's almost impossible to have a bad day.

welcome to ze banyo...umm, bathroom, where the lighting is the best and the clutter is non-existant. my camera takes shiteous outdoor night photos so this is my brilliant idea to rectify the problem.

ANYWAY. i'm sure youve all noticed the constant appearance of this singlet. its one of those things in my wardrobe that gets washed maybe four times a month max because i cant bear to part with it. sounds yuck, maybe, but cmon, you know what im talking about. there's one or two pieces in every chick's wardrobe. this one's mine (obvs). it's the perfect basic. it goes with e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. its nice and light, perfect for layering, and just the right length for tucking in or wearing untucked. plus its black. and did i mention that it goes with everything? ive been trying to find a replacement for years, just to give this one a bit of a rest, but alas have been very unsuccesful. nothing even comes close. therefore, i will keep wearing it, and keep washing it four times a month. please dont judge me. (and in my defence, i dont have a washing machine or dryer and have to take a bus to the nearest laundromat so really, id rather wear it than have it sit at the bottom of my washing basket).

went on a thrifting expedition around the city again today. finally found my birthday dress (yaaaay!!!!) and a couple more gems. my favorite is a stone colored fringe bag made with the softest leather. why anyone would donate that beauty to the salvos, i have no idea, but it doesnt really matter because its mine now, miiiiine!!!! *evillaugh*
oh, and i finally got the hair cut today. Dani from Toni and Guy on Wolf Lane is amaaazing.

(thrifted coat, dress and boots, Luella sunnies)

another rainy winter day in perth. the sun kept coming and going and coming and going like it couldnt make up its mind. slept in and then had to rush out of the house, so took literally 2 minutes getting ready. despite the weather, i felt like a dress but wasnt really in a girly dainty mood if you know what i mean. i think i just felt like feeling the raindrops on bare skin. this ginormous poncho kept me so warm, i love how it's 4 sizes too big. the boots definitely helped me feel less girly too, and they let me jump on puddles. fuuuun times.
